Thunderbird Intertribal Pow-Wow...

Crafters, flint knappers, basketmakers, storytellers, and traditional singers and musicians, and hundreds of Native American dancers, are coming to Niceville for the 18th Annual Thunderbird Intertribal Pow-Wow Nov. 4-6 at the Mullet Festival Grounds.

Special musical guests include 2004-2005 Native American Music Award Flutist of the Year winner Billy Whitefox. Whitefox is southeastern Muskogee Creek with his home reservation being Tama at Cairo, Ga. He is a vice chief in Northern Florida and a vice chief of the Red Heart Clan in Alabama. Host drum is “Medicine Tail” from Atmore, Ala.

Head Man and Head Lady are Ruben and Matilda Littlehead, of Lawrence, Kan. Thunderbird Honor Guard, whose members are all Native American military veterans, is honor guard. Albert White Hat Senior, Lakota, is acting emcee.

Eglin Air Force Base and the Thunderbird Intertribal Council are once again presenting the Pow-Wow. Admission to the event is free, but donations of $2 for Friday activities and $1 for Saturday and Sunday are appreciated.
